ICT & BYOD

At Ngākōroa School we recognise the incredible potential that digital devices have to support teaching and learning. We have considered both research and our own personal experiences, so we are best-equipped to integrate digital tools into learning as our school grows.

We will use these ICT tools to:

  • Support the implementation of the new Digital Technologies Curriculum;
  • Promote ‘Anytime, Anywhere Learning’ across the curriculum;
  • Promote a culture of creating content rather than consuming content;
  • Provide seamless communication and celebrations of learning between home and school;
  • Support our tamariki to understand their place as global citizens;
  • Teach students to become responsible digital citizens.

BYOD - ‘Bring Your Own Device’ in Years 6-8

BYOD means that Year 6-8 ākonga are able to bring a device (Chromebook) to school and back each day - like a regular stationery item.

This will give staff and ākonga greater access to important learning tools which will support our learning approaches at Ngākōroa School.

There will also be a number of school supplied Chromebooks in each classroom for the use of those who choose not to provide a device for their child, meaning no student will be disadvantaged through this programme.

Ngākōroa BYOD fact sheet can be seen here.
